The preliminary of the 10th “FLTRP CUP” National French Public Speaking Contest for HHU was successfully held in this college on Oct. 25th, 2017. The judges were PhD supervisor Gao Fang, Director of French Department of NJU, Miss Zhou Yan, faculty member of French Department of HHU and two foreign teachers, Justine and Flora.
Contestants’ distinctive speeches with their standard pronunciations and fluent oral French resonated with the audience, triggering cheese and applause from the audience members. During the Q&A session, they presented flexible and excellent answers, offering a wonderful audio-visual feast. Finally, Han Jiankun ranked first and won the first prize, Wu Jiefu took the second place, and Lu Yi along with Ouyang Xinyi shared the third prize. At the same time, a recitation competition for freshmen majoring in French was underway, with contestants showing their beautiful pronunciation and intonation by reciting a fable named The Fox and the Crow.
The competition aimed at boosting students’ French-learning enthusiasm, showing French glamour to others interested in it. The judges gave positive comments to the progress made by the students and also put forward some suggestions about French learning.
